Day 52:Vasu Finishes!

Forty-six year old Vasu Nikolay Duzhiy from St. Petersburg,Russia became the sixth and final finisher of the Sixteenth Annual Self-Transcendence 3100 Mile Race today. He finished in 51 days+10:47:39, which averages to 60.256 miles per day(96.971 km).The steady runner becomes the first Russian to complete the world’s longest footrace. Vasu joins thirty-one other men and women who have reached the finish line in the 16 year reign of this unique event.

Day 51:Take a Deep Breath

With one day left after today, our weary runners move along. Arpan DeAngelo the lone US entrant, continued to fly around the course in pursuit of 2700 miles. At days end he equaled the most miles done (2700) by an over 60 years runner- John Wallis from Ludington,Mich.- and passed it by one lap. With a whole day left he can still add to his total. Meanwhile Vasu Duzhiy is in position to finish Tuesday evening around 600pm, which will make him the sixth and final finisher this year. He ran 56 miles to cap his day and needs only forty to finish. It has been a tough year but inspiring nonetheless. See you tomorrow.

Day 50: Atmavir Spacil Rides Again

Atmavir Spacil of the Czech Republic finished 3100 miles for the sixth time in his running career in 49 days+09:48:58. He arrived in fifth place while averaging 62.745 miles per day(100.978 km). He is still ranked seventh all-time for the tough race, which has allowed 31 finishers in 16 years of competition.
Vasu Duzhiy of Russia should make it to the finish line on Tuesday afternoon to complete the finishers for this year.Strong thunderstorms have stayed away from our area all day. Six men are still on the course to reach the end of their journey, no matter how long it might be.

Day 49: Pushkar Finishes

Ultra veteran Pushkar Christopher Mullauer finished 3100 miles for the third time, setting a new personal best and Swiss record. He ran it in 48 days +08:22:16, which was an average of 64.121 miles per day(103.192 km). He set his new personal best almost 14 hours faster than his previous record.
Atmavir Spacil has only 37.8 miles to go to finish Sunday afternoon.

Day 48: Pranjal Rules

Thirty-nine year old Pranjal Milovnik from Bratislava,Slovakia staked his claim on the third position of the race with a sterling effort. The tough Slovakian
finished in 47 days+11:23:02, an average of 65.302 miles/ or 105.093 km per day. Saturday will see the next finisher in Pushkar Mullauer, who has only 34 more miles to complete his journey.

Day 47: Sarvagata In !!

Sarvagata Ukrainskyi, 39, from Verdansk, Ukraine, made it to the line in second place in a time of 46 days+03:42:17, his second finish and a welcome relief after numerous injuries the last few weeks. He is still ranked fifth all-time in 3100 mile race history. During the race in his peak form Sarvagata ran six consecutive days of 75+ miles or more(120 km+). He surprised many last year by winning the race in his first attempt against a loaded field. This year he started slowly and moved up the field. He was ably assisted by his wife Sarvakamya, his friend Dimma, and his sister Sarvadhara, among many others.
The rest of the field carries on, with Slovakian Pranjal Milovnik set to finish Friday afternoon.

Day 46: Reach That Line

Ukrainian Sarvagata Ukrainskyi from Verdansk Ukraine, needs only 16.46 miles(30 laps), to reach the goal of 3100 miles. He should finish between
10 and 11 am. Thursday morning. He ran 71.34 miles today to allow for the easy day on the path to the line.

Day 45:In the Wake

It must be tough for the remaining fellas out on the course. They have given their all but the goal has not been reached.
When the leader of the pack makes it to the end, the rest must renew their resolve. Pushkar Mullauer led the way today
with 65.3 miles. He is eyeing the finish line on Saturday. Sarvagata Ukrainskyi who came in first last year, has had numerous injuries that have slowed him down the last few weeks. He is hoping for a finish line on Thursday morning. Pranjal Milovnik is looking at Friday for the end of his journey.
Vasu Duzhiy is hanging on for dear life and hopes to cross the tape Monday night or Tuesday morning. The rest of the group hang on as warriors and seekers of the illusive spiritual quest. The Goal beckons. Who will reach it? Stay tuned.

Day 44: Grahak Finishes!!

Thirty-five year old runner Grahak Cunningham of Perth, Australia ran the fourth fastest performance in the sixteen year history of the race today, covering the distance in 43 days,10 hours,36 minutes and 39 seconds. The gritty Aussie endured four trying heat waves and several bouts with rashes on his torso and still conquered the distance in a personal best time. He averaged 71.363 miles /114.848 kilometers per day. He becomes the third man in history to average over 70 miles for the duration of the race. He has run the race four times now, with each one faster than his previous effort.

Day 43: Closing In

Grahak Cunningham ran 68.05 miles today to remain in place to finish 3100 miles Monday afternoon(between 2 to 4 pm).
He needs just 74 laps(40.61 miles) to complete his journey. To feel what it would be like to run Grahak’s amazing daily mileage(71.15/114.50km), Pushkar Mullauer decided to run 130 laps today, and did them he did, running 71.3 miles, after six weeks of running. seven men went over sixty miles again in better conditions than all week.
