Asprihanal Aalto, the race leader, deftly passed the halfway mark of the 3100 mile race today, running 70.14 miles and reaching the milestone in 21 days+17:14:20. This was his eighth split at this distance (1550 miles), and third fastest of his career at the superlong races. A total of nine runners passed 60 miles today, as cloudy skies gave rise to an intermitent shower but no heavy rain.
