Day 55: Pavol Saraz Reaches 3100

Pavol Saraz,33, from Zlin, Czech Republic reached 3100 miles today for the first time in 54 days+14:26:40. The tall, lanky runner averaged 56.777 miles per day(91.375 km) in his second attempt at the longest distance race. Ananda-Lahari Zuscin needs 74 laps(40.44 miles) to reach the end of his journey Saturday afternoon.

Day 54:Getting There

Pavol Saraz is 88 laps from runner-heaven, getting within 49 miles of completing his first 3100 mile race. He should finish around 8:30-9:30 pm on Friday. Ananda-Lahari Zuscin probably needs until Saturday in the mid-afternoon to make it to the line for the last time this year. Suprabha Beckjord is still getting there, for the improbable 13th time.

Day 53: Hang Tough

The band of three still remaining tasted the first day at 90ºF this summer- perhaps two months late- and got through it okay. Pavol Saraz ran 58.7 miles to put himself in place to finish comfortably on Friday evening. The others did what they could- stay strong!

Day 52: Diganta Adhikari Finishes

Austrian Diganta Adikhari finished the 3100 mile race for the fourth time today in 51 days +13:26:22. He is the eighth finisher this year. Suprabha Beckjord went through the 2700 mile split for the fourteenth time in her running life – an amazing statistic any way you look at it. Pavol Saraz is hoping to finish Friday evening.

Day 51: Diganta Leads Way

Diganta Adhikari led the day with 62.01 miles as hot, sticky weather has moved into the neighborhood. He has 93 laps on Tuesday to finish 3100 miles before he can rest easy. It is quieter out at the race, but there is resolve to finish in the eyes of all runners, and finish they must, and finish they will.

Day 50: Pushkar First Swiss to Finish

Pushkar C. Mullauer from Zurich,Switzerland  finished in seventh place Sunday morning in a Swiss record time of 49 days+ 02:57:03. He averaged 63.110 miles per day (101.560 km) whilst garnering the 16th place all-time at 3100 miles. He became the first Swiss citizen to run 3100 miles on a certified course. He said afterward that he could not believe he did it. A few weeks ago he passed his previous best distance mark by nearly 13 days. Diganta Adhikari will hopefully finish Tuesday evening.

Day 49: Three is the Charm!

Ukrainian Vadimir Balatsky finished fourth in the Self-Transcendence 3100 Mile Race today, reeling off the third best first-timer performance in 48 days+02:25:50. He is now ranked tenth in the world for this event. A few hours later Slovakian Pranjal Milovnik wheeled past the line in 48 days+06:07:50, his best performance by 28 hours. In the early evening six-time finisher Stutisheel Lebedev reached the finish line in 48 days+12:42:46, his best by nearly two days . Pushkar Mullauer from Switzerland needs only 26 laps to finish Sunday morning.

Day 48: Three Men in Place

With cascading rainstorms intruding both morning and night, our intrepid runners did not seek shelter but rather sought solace in the goal ahead. Three men await their finish: Vladimir Balatsky has only 17 laps to go until he reaches 3100 miles – he led today’s proceedings with 67.50 miles; Pranjal Milovnik needs 44 laps to make it in; and Stutisheel Lebedev requires only 93 laps to reach the goal. Pavol Saraz arrived at 2700 miles today (2700 miles = 47 days+14:23:59) nearly eight days faster than last year. Wow!!

Day 47:The Light at the End of the Tunnel

Vladimir Balatsky has his eye on the prize of finishing the 3100 mile race in his first attempt after running 67.5024 miles today. He needs only 140 laps-76.8 miles- to bring it home on Saturday morning if he sticks to his regular regimen of 66+ miles. He will be closely followed by Pranjal Milovnik and Stutisheel Lebedyev- both veterans running personal bests for this race. The Beat goes on!!

Day 46: Petr Spacil Breaks Own Record

On a dreary, hot, sticky overcast morning, Petr Spacil from Brno, Czech Republic completed his task by running 3100 miles in 45 days+03:44:21. The third place finisher completed the course three days ahead of his previous best time. Mr. Spacil moved from 12th to fifth in the overall rankings while averaging 68.655 miles per day (110.489 – km per day).
